Dr. Mark Bowes is a globally respected leader in Aesthetic and Complex Restorative Dentistry, based in Cape Town, South Africa. With over 30 years of clinical experience—including 23 years in private practice in London—Dr. Bowes is known for his patient-centered, minimally invasive approach and his commitment to staying at the forefront of dental innovation.
After returning to South Africa, Dr. Bowes founded the South African Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry (SAAAD) and served as Congress President for the International Federation of Esthetic Dentistry (IFED) in 2015, hosting a landmark global congress.
He is a pioneer of Digital Smile Design (DSD) in South Africa and remains the country’s only certified DSD Instructor. Through DSD, he has transformed how dentists approach smile makeovers—placing facial harmony, digital planning, and patient collaboration at the heart of treatment.
In addition, Dr. Bowes introduced the Intelligent Aligner System (IAS) to South Africa and is currently the continent’s only certified instructor. This system reflects his passion for minimally invasive dentistry, where orthodontics, adhesive techniques, and digital tools are used to achieve long-lasting, biologically respectful results.

Through this academy, Dr Bowes leads advanced training programs focused on aesthetic excellence, interdisciplinary treatment, and minimally invasive techniques. In addition, he co-hosts comprehensive restorative courses in collaboration with the Implant & Aesthetic Academy in both Johannesburg and Cape Town, helping to train and mentor dental professionals from across Southern Africa and beyond. Dr Bowes is also the founder and Clinical Director of Enamel Clinic, a state-of-the-art dental practice in Cape Town that reflects his commitment to innovation, patient-centered care, and clinical excellence.
