Dr. Andrew Ellis

Dr. Andrew Ellis is a highly experienced dentist with a special interest in reconstructive, cosmetic, and digital dentistry. He graduated from the University of Stellenbosch in 1998, receiving the Colgate Prize for Maxillo-Facial Surgery. Shortly thereafter, he relocated to London, where he established Fulham Dental Care—a successful private practice in Chelsea focused on comprehensive general dentistry, with a particular emphasis on aesthetic, implant, and orthodontic treatments.
During his eight years in the UK, Dr. Ellis furthered his education by attending numerous international post-graduate courses and congresses, gaining extensive experience across all fields of clinical dentistry. It was during this time that he developed a strong interest in occlusion and its pivotal role in long-term restorative outcomes.
Returning to Cape Town in 2007, Dr. Ellis joined Patheodent and became a partner in 2009. He has since completed extensive post-graduate training in implantology through The Implant and Aesthetic Academy, refining his surgical and restorative skills. Over the past decade, he has also developed deep expertise in CAD/CAM digital dentistry, using cutting-edge technology to deliver functional and aesthetic outcomes.
Dr. Ellis is passionate about technological advancements in dentistry and the integration of digital workflows into modern practice. He frequently lectures on topics such as occlusion, TMD, implantology, and digital treatment planning. He has served as Vice-President and currently sits on the Executive Committee of the South African Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry (SAAAD). He is also a member of the Implant and Aesthetic Academy (IAA), the South African Academy of Computerised Dentistry (SAACD), and the South African Dental Association (SADA). He is registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Ellis is a family man. He is married to Yvonne and has two children, Simon and Adrienne. In his free time, he enjoys trail running, surf-skiing, and mountain biking.
