Dr. David Huson
Restorative Dentist | Biomimetic Dentistry Advocate | Educator
Dr. David Huson is a restorative dentist based at Enamel Clinic in Cape Town, South Africa. Known for his thoughtful, gentle, patient-focused approach, he is passionate about dentistry that honors the natural design of the tooth — with biomimetic principles at the very core of his work.
Biomimetic dentistry is a minimally invasive and tooth-conserving approach that aims to restore teeth in a way that mimics their original structure, strength, and function. Dr. Huson’s clinical philosophy is rooted in the belief that the best dentistry preserves what nature created, using advanced adhesive techniques to rebuild rather than replace. This ethos informs every aspect of his restorative care — from small reconstructions to complex rehabilitation cases.
In alignment with his commitment to saving teeth, Dr. Huson also experienced in root canal therapy, offering patients an alternative to extraction when the internal health of the tooth can still be preserved. This integrative, whole-tooth mindset is central to his approach.
In 2022, he completed the Biomimetic Mastership through the Alleman Institute (Utah, USA), a global leader in adhesive and conservative dentistry. That same year, he was honored to be elected a Bio_Emulation ambassador, representing both South Africa and the African continent in this highly respected international community of clinicians devoted to biomimetic and aesthetic excellence.
Dr. Huson is also a mentor and educator with Ripe Global, an Australian-based dental education platform. Through his work with Ripe, he supports clinicians around the world in developing practical skills and confidence in biomimetic restorative techniques.
In addition to his clinical and educational work, he is currently contributing to ongoing research in colour science and aesthetic dentistry, collaborating with one of Bio_Emulation’s founding members. His work blends scientific precision with a deep respect for the biological and visual harmony of the natural dentition.
Gentle, intentional, and always seeking to do right by the tooth and the person attached to it, Dr. Huson continues to be a humble yet dedicated voice for meaningful, long-lasting change in restorative dentistry.
